Deliverance From Temptation

Temptation is to be put into a situation where you could fall into sin like lying, fear, stealing or uncleanness as a result of Satan’s temptation.
“The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations” (2Pet. 2:9) The Lord delivers those who have a genuine relationship with Him, who are obedient to His commandments, out of temptation. “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall” (2Cor.10:12). We need to be alert as we are liable to be tempted by Satan to sin, as he did with the people of God in the wilderness.  “But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.  Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted … Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition” (1Cor. 10:5, 6, 11). So, be careful and do not be overly confident in yourself as evil spirits reside in the air around us.
“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall” (Prov. 16:18).  Ask the Lord to keep you humble in spirit; understanding that you are liable to attacks and falling in temptation. Satan can launch a sudden attack or lead you gradually into temptation.  Therefore, seek the Lord’s protection and enlightenment so as to perceive and understand the enemy’s schemes; and the Lord’s warning in due time using His Word, spiritual sermons, or through a spiritual leader.
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape” (1Cor. 10:13) Do not fall into self-pity; other people face the same temptation.  However, the Lord is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond your ability, and will also make the way of escape.  Knowing that for every temptation, there is a way of escape, for the Lord loves us and fully understands our vessels and inclinations.
Always be ready for temptations coming your way. The Holy Spirit will alert you to the upcoming trial.  The Lord told His disciples, “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation” (Matt. 26:41), to warn them from falling into fear and denial of Him.  Be awake and pray that the Lord leads you not into temptation but deliver you from the evil one. Give the Holy Spirit the chance to lead you and equip yourself with biblical verses that fit the trial.
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you” (James 4:7). Unless we submit to the Lord and His commandments, we cannot force Satan to flee from us.  Be faithful in your daily duties, flee idolatry (anything that you love more than the Lord), love of money, adultery, youthful lusts as Joseph did.  Also, rid yourself of promoters of sin, such as bad friends, then you will be able to successfully resist the devil using the sword of the spirit and the name of Jesus “Enter not into the path of the wicked” (Pro. 4:14) such as bribery and fellowship with non-believers.
Thank you Lord because you protect from the hour of temptation, “who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us” (2Cor. 1:10)
